Documentation and User Guide
Documentation and User Guide:
This is all the documentation and the user guide or the final version of A Slime's Labyrinth for KIT109.
The overall game compares very well with the original idea that I set out to create. All the features that I outlined in my concept document have been met, and no other major features were added during the creation process. The only slight deviation from the original concept was the amount of damage dealt by the Master ending up being the same as the Apprentice, but this was due to their difficulty being adjusted in other ways such as speed, so their damage did not need to be altered from each other. There have been a few minor features that I contemplated adding in but were ultimately left out, such as the directional arrow (due to time constraints) and landmarks in the labyrinth (due to skewering the overall difficulty and taking away from elements of the game).
During the Week 12 testing session, there were two main areas that I was looking for feedback in: bugs and improvements, and level difficulty. One of the main improvements that was brought up was feedback to the player when damage was taken, with 20% of testers noting it down. A major bug that was found was that the player was able to keep moving and ultimately die, even after the level complete screen was shown. This has now been fixed, so that the player is unable to continue play without proceeding to the next level after the prior level's completion. Within the feedback form I included a poll about the level difficulty. The response showed that 55% of testers found the game "Challenging", while 27% said "Moderate" and 18% said "Easy". Due to this feedback, along with my personal observations, the difficulty for the first two levels were adjusted to ease players in more, but the overall difficulty remained the same. The average rating of A Slime's Labyrinth given by testers was 4.1/5. For more information on the Week 12 Testing Feedback, see the Polish and Testing Devlog: Polish and Testing
